About

Music is my passion and sharing it with others is a joy that never gets old. I have been playing guitar for 25 years and been teaching/performing full time for the last 10 years. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, skill levels and musical interests.

When it comes to teaching, i believe in the importance of explaining WHY we are doing what we are doing which greatly increases a students understanding of how techniques are applied. The best part about teaching lessons is seeing the growth of a student and how it affects their confidence. Music is so special because the quest to get better never ends and there's always another challenge around the corner!

I love my job! I love playing guitar all day, i love helping my students grow into confident players and i love having the opportunity to answer the questions of curious new guitar players. I learn a lot from the questions people ask so it is an endless cascade of new musical perspectives on a day to day basis.

Im an older hobbyist who has picked up and quit on the guitar more times with more teachers than I can count. Stevie is the first teacher that got thru to me in a way that resonated. Hes got all the chops and theory if thats what you need, but what I really appreciate is his focus on feel. Ive always gotten discouraged by how clumsy my left hand is and hes helped me to understand that, while important, the left hand will catch up. If you can get the rhythm/feel with your right hand, youve got something to build off of. His demeanor is laid back and chill, his lessons are informative and give you plenty to build on and the homework is a good mix of fun and work. I cant recommend him enough.

Stevie explains things very well. Taking lessons with Stevie has helped my guitar playing more than anything else I’ve tried. He got me to feel passionate about playing again after being “stuck” for literally decades. I didn’t know a whole song before and never had confidence in my abilities before, but now I can play anything I practice at and I am beginning to feel comfortable with the whole fretboard. I have been taking lessons with Stevie for 8 months now now and plan to keep working with him until he is tired of me. 🤘😁

Ive played guitar for about 5 years now, so I hope this review can help beginners and intermediate players.
I found Stevie online after leaving my first guitar teacher of almost 2 years. I wanted more professional, higher quality lessons, and Stevie delivered on those two wishes in just the first lesson. Stevie was able to identify my specific problem - not a generic, vague one - and provide me concrete ways to improve. The problem had to do with my picking and rhythm playing, as I had focused on fretboard theory, solos and simple Blues rhythms prior, so while I was playing the correct notes, Stevie could tell my music just didnt have the feel it should within the first half of my first lesson.
The practices Stevie suggested to me included jamming on triads and diads over a looped chord progression. This is a very doable practice. Compare that to picking out blues solos weekly only for my previous teacher to forget what he had even asked me to do and you can see why this was refreshing. Stevie always remembers where we left off and he always builds off of it.
I never had taken seriously the analogy that your picking hand is your own drum, that is until Stevie had me jam while entirely muting my left hand. After creating music with just strumming, he helped me realize how quickly the music can follow by just fretting notes. It completely shifted my focus from one side of the guitar to the other.
Stevie himself is an excellent guitarist. He can play just about anything you mention and you can seriously expect him to pick out any guitar part he doesnt already know. More importantly, Stevie is so knowledgeable and succinct that you will always walk away with an understanding of the why behind the piece.
Finding a good teacher can be hard. I know from the experience of thinking a mediocre one could somehow get better. Stevie is the real deal. I highly recommend Stevie to be your guitar teacher. You wont be disappointed.
    Happy jamming!

Stevie helped me learn to get started playing guitar FAST! He’s extremely knowledgeable about the instrument and taught me other topics like ear-training, tempo, and more. I highly recommend Stevie if you are a young student with a new guitar, or a serious professional musician looking to grow. His expertise will help unlock your playing and you’ll HAVE FUN doing it!

Stevie is an excellent instructor! He can teach all levels and abilities. In my case, he does a great job incorporating the basics of music theory into the genre I want to play(blues). This makes learning exciting, fun, and easy. Stevie is always available, punctual, and professional. Give ‘em a call!

    Frequently asked questions

The first lesson is all about getting to know the student and establishing goals moving forward. I want to know what made this person want to play guitar in the first place, what artists they want to play like, and what they hope to get out of their playing in the short/long term. Then we make an individualized plan for them :)

Ive been playing guitar for 20 years and 9 years as my sole profession. Being a working guitar player for nearly a decade with countless other musicians/bands of varying styles has allowed me to amass the knowlege that can only come through experience. I like to teach from the approach of practicality.

Early in my days as a full time musician it was out of neccessity to make ends meet. Then I found that i was good at it, and had a passion for it. I love the fact that i get to play and talk about guitar all day as well as the satisfaction of seeing my students blossom into confident players themselves!

I work with students of all ages and all abilities. Most of my students are just starting out... many are touching a guitar for the first time at our first lesson haha. I also really enjoy taking intermediate players to the next level and challenging advanced students to get the best out of their ability.

Most importantly you just want to have a teacher that you can enjoy the process with. Someone that will challenge you but make it fun along the way while understanding your unique set of goals.
