Not company owned or operated, I stand to provide music education at exactly what that means - teaching music. Not just notes or rhythm, but the true meaning behind music. Although I have trained classically for over 16 years and am well versed in reading music and the like, i’ve learned to put far more emphasis on not only reading music, but playing as it was intended. This is a knowledge I intend to pass down to my students.

Songs that I have written have been streamed over four million times across all platforms and national outlets like NPR have praised my work, naming Kady Rain's R.A.D. Moves as their song of the summer in 2018 beating out artists like Beyonce, Drake, and Zedd.  I've written over four hundred songs in the last five years and have countless hours of music theory, arrangement, and songwriting experience under my belt.   I teach private one on one lessons and also at conferences.  When teaching private lessons it's best if we start with understanding what the student is hoping to get out of lessons and what experience they alr ... As a lifelong musician, I have an affinity for spreading the knowledge of musical integrity. When I was just 4 years old, my brother taught me how to play the drums, and I have not given up my first love since. However, as many musicians seek to achieve, I wanted to master other instruments; I know am fluent in guitar and drums (or any percussion instrument) and can and have intensively trained people to master these art forms at a pace that best suits them. I grew up playing drums in a church band and learned a lot of what I understand musically from this upbringing. However, I am also heavily involved in a band named Handsomebeast in H ... View Profile

Micahl Craig Lessons

Music Bio for Micahl Craig Playing music started for me when I was around 13 years old. I started inquiring and asking my uncle, a jazz musician of many instruments like guitar, saxophone, and clarinet, about starting to play an instrument. Next thing I knew he got me a guitar set up and started teaching me about music, artists, and improvisation by using my ear. This played a huge influence on my style pushing me to seek out music theory to help progress my abilities to play with others and to understand songs. Most of what I learned was self-taught through various books and jamming with others. I formed my own band in Houston and soon gain ... View Profile

Frequently asked questions

How much do guitar lessons cost?

The average cost for guitar lessons is $40 per hour. Available for all ages and all skill levels of guitar playing, the pricing of individual or group guitar lessons can start as low as $20/hour. Teachers charge based on their location, years of teaching, levels of knowledge and expertise, and travel time (if applicable). Lessons can last from half an hour to a full hour, and are priced accordingly.

How long does it take to learn guitar?

If you just want to learn a few chords to strum along to some songs, then learning to play the guitar really isn't that hard for most people. Many students are able to learn a few chords and get a decent strumming pattern going after a few weeks. If you've had prior experience playing an instrument, you can expect to pick it up after just a few lessons.

Should I take guitar lessons online or in person lessons?

Private in person guitar lessons with a skilled instructor that is focused on you, your interests, and your progress is the most sought after experience and hard to replicate online. Plus, you tend to learn faster in person. On the other hand, online guitar lessons are quickly becoming popular. The selection of teachers is not limited to those in your geographical area and you can communicate via video in real time with your teacher in the comfort of your home. When filling out your request on Lessons.com, we recommend you select both online and local options, then compare your options and see what works best for you.

How old should children be before starting guitar lessons?

A child as young as 4 can begin to learn if they are really motivated and have a patient, creative, and devoted teacher. However, we've found almost all kids under six are too young to benefit from formal guitar lessons, as they require dexterity and levels of concentration children their age can't provide. That being said, lessons do not need to be formal right off the bat, and can just provide a fun introduction. Also, your child may benefit from using a ukulele to start, as it's smaller and easier to learn, but very similar instrument.
