What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every potential new student completes an interview, personal analysis, and private lesson. This allows us to establish a baseline for the program the student is interested in. It also allows the student and families to interview us.
Once they enroll, we have an extensive follow-up process to ensure the students do not fall through the cracks during their initial couple of months of training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our instructors complete a 1000 hour instructor training course before earning their instructor certification. They must complete CE credits every quarter or teach a certain number of hours.
Every week we meet on Monday's to discuss the weekly curriculum as well as discuss any methods that can be improved
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I have trained in various forms of Martial Arts for more than 45 years. I have been teaching for more than 35 years. We started our school in 1997 part-time in the evenings and weekends. While on a training trip to Korea and China in 2001 I realized that I truly loved doing martial arts a great deal more than I did working a day time job and teaching at night. On the plane ride home, I wrote my resignation letter and 3 weeks after I returned, I turned our part-time school into a Full-time program.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with students as young as 3 and as old a retirement age. We have students that are gifted athletes, children that have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. Children that are on the Spectrum. Children that are extraverted, introverted, special needs, have great discipline, lack focus...
Just about every situation you can image, we have worked with in regards to our children, adults, and families.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There are many, however, it is just the peer satisfaction of a student pushing past their own internal limits.
Being visited by a student that is coming back to visit to just say hello, tell us how much their training meant to them to the students that are now adults and want to get back to training again.
I am moved everytime we receive an email, letter or phone call from a parent sharing with us how much their martial arts training made a difference in their lives.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Interview multiple instructors. Visit their facility, watch classes, view their students and learn about their curriculum and student resources. Don't just call around looking for the cheapest price. You will get what you pay for and with many schools today, it will not be anywhere close to what you need to accomplish your training goals.
