At Denton Aikido you will learn effective self-defense, gain poise, confidence and self-respect, and develop inner strength, posture and balance. The Dojo of Traditional Japanese Martial Arts is dedicated to transmitting genuine classical martial arts and skills, as they were transmitted to us. Our group practices Tomiki-ryu Aikido, including elements Judo and Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, as well as Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo (staff and other weapons). The Dojo is a martial arts co-op that also offers Eishin-ryu Iaido (sword), Uechi-ryu Karate, and Tai Chi.
I love to see my students developing confidence and extraordinary abilities. It changes lives.
They are respectful to their sources. Kind and helpful with their students. Perhaps one of the best dojos to learn in within the States.
Warm, welcoming environment. Spent close to 20 years studying with Jack and everyone in several martial arts disciplines.
Jack is an excellent and skillful teacher. This is Aikido that works.
Each new student is given a personal introduction to the principles and practice of Aikido, Jodo or Aikijujutsu from the chief instructor for their first lesson. Afterwards they are included in partner practice and each student helps transmit what they have learned in a sempai-kohai relationship.
I have practiced Aikido since 1985 and have 7th dan in the Tomiki-ryu. I also started Jodo in 1985, achieving 6th dan, and began the koryu in 1998, now holding Shomokuroku (first license) in Shindo Muso Ryu. We have added Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu recently, which integrates with and improves all our other arts.
Standard dues are $75/mo for all classes (Aikido, Jodo, Aikijujutsu). Student rate is $65/mo. Partial schedule, family or hardship costs are arranged case by case.
We recently hosted Roy Goldberg, 7th dan Daito-ryu Aikijutsu, and find his seminars and teaching inspirational.
