Jordan D. says, "I had an amazing lesson with Kiki! From the start, she made me feel incredibly comfortable, which allowed me to sing openly and confidently in front of her. Kiki gave me specific exercises and techniques to help me improve certain notes and pitches, and her feedback was both constructive and encouraging. Not only was the lesson a lot of fun, but it was also clear how passionate Kiki is about working with singers. Her supportive and motivating style made me feel inspired to keep improving. Colton L. says, "Rico is a highly experienced and all-around talented musician who has been playing since he could reach the piano keys. I've been taking lessons with him for four years and love the immense improvement I've seen in my piano playing and singing. It's so special to whip out a performance for a special occasion or wow the crowd on karaoke night. Lessons are encouraging, lively, and fun, not some boring drills. Rico doesn't just teach piano or singing, he teaches how to make music. He emphasizes the secondary skills like ear training that are crucial for teaching yourself how to perform the songs you want to perform. And as a a busy professional that doesn't have all the time I'd like to dedicate to this craft, I appreciate Rico's friendliness and flexibility. His enthusiasm is infectious. He meets you where you are and helps you enjoy music as much as he does." Read more

Your Singing Lessons questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much are singing lessons?

Singing lessons cost $50 to $90 per hour on average. Prices vary depending on the teacher's location, experience, reputation, and whether you're taking a private or group lesson. Group lessons typically cost less per person than private lessons, but you may not get as much personal attention and feedback in a group setting.

  • Some singing teachers charge a flat rate for a specified increment of time, typically in 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute increments.
  • Many coaches offer package deals to purchase 2 to 10+ lessons at a time and reduce the cost per lesson.

Do singing lessons work?

Singing lessons won't change your sound completely, but they can help improve your sound by strengthening your vocal cords and improving your range and tone.

What do singing lessons teach you?

Singing lessons involve more than just your voice. A vocal coach will teach you how to hold and improve your posture, which gives your diaphragm optimal room to expand. You also learn proper breathing techniques and how to use your breath to improve your tone. Singing lessons also help you improve your diction—the way you articulate your words when singing—as well as your ability to match specific pitches.

Can adults take singing lessons?

Yes, adults can absolutely take singing lessons. While starting singing lessons at a young age gives you more time to develop your voice, it's never too late to begin learning and improve your singing voice.

How do I find the best singing lessons near me?

Follow these guidelines to help you choose the best singing lessons near you:

  • Check out their reviews on Lessons.com and Google.
  • Get at least three estimates from teachers with similar credentials.
  • Ask for recommendations from others in the local music community.
  • Do a trial meeting or lesson if possible with several teachers to find the best fit for your goals.
  • Ask them about their training and credentials.
  • Ask about what specific methods and techniques they teach.
  • Ask about the specific progress they've made with other students.
  • Make sure their schedule matches your availability.

What questions should I ask when choosing a singing teacher?

Ask these questions to help you choose the best singing teacher for you:

  • How long have you been teaching singing?
  • Can you share any success stories?
  • Do I need to have a good voice already to become a better singer?
  • How long does it typically take to see improvement?
  • Do you offer any package deals?
  • What is your teaching schedule?
  • How long are your singing lessons?
  • How often should I practice?
  • Do you offer private or group lessons?
  • Where do you teach?
  • Do you offer online lessons using video calling?

Kiki made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I never sing in front of anyone, not even my parents, so this was very new to me. But she made everything super easy and fun! I'm excited to continue my journey with her.

I started taking piano lessons from Rico about ten months ago. I had zero music training and was looking for learning something new and enjoy music better, although I was not even sure it was possible to learn piano at my age (>55). Rico is patient, flexible, and caters his teaching and the pace to my level and schedule. Rico teaches not just how, but also why and also from the perspective of enjoying music. We even tried to do some voice training, which I would never have thought of trying. I have enjoyed the entire process, from lessons, to practicing myself, and to seeing myself making process. Now I am confident that I can really learn piano or even sing from Rico, and with practice, to a level that I would enjoy and look at music completely differently from when I started. And I look forward to every lesson.

I came into Danny's lessons as an experienced player, and I think he does a great job of identifying areas of improvement and exposing me to new ways of thinking about music, not just guitar. Danny has a welcoming personality and I look forward to chatting and getting guidance every week. I would recommend Danny to anyone who is looking to improve their ear, their technique and groove.
