Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It must always start with assessment of current skills and teachability. I want learning to be fun. There is never failure. There is only continued trying until there is success. Everyone learns at their own speed. That is respected.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As stated in my profile, all my educational endeavors have been about music and teaching it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25 for a half hour lesson. I prefer to be paid monthly for children. For adults, since they can be more flexible, I just get paid whenever they have a lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
It is my philosophy that when much has been given in talent, much is expected to be shared with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children and adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go to a "try-out" lesson and see if there seems to be a match of communication and personality.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you want to do with music in the present and the future. It's much easier to learn when you have a goal in mind.
