About

Over 35 years teaching piano to students of all ages. I have taught a variety of musical forms to include classical, jazz & blues, folk, Spanish, hymns and Christmas. Students will learn to write and play major and minor scales along with technique, written and verbal theory. Each year I put together a recital for students who would like to participate. Aside from teaching piano lessons I have also taught as a music teacher in elementary and jr high schools as a permanent temp instructor. My college concentrated on vocals with the plan that I would become a choir teacher but instead I found I enjoyed working with students more one-on-one at the piano. My goal to help students learn to read and play music for their on pleasure. I very much enjoy teaching music and working with the students. There is nothing more satisfying than see the eyes of a student brighten up when they realize they have grasped the music they are learning!

I love music and I really enjoy working with students to understand, read and play the piano. It gives me such a good feeling when I see a student realize they understand the material. The delight in their eyes makes it all worth while to me.

    Frequently asked questions

For students who have had previous lessons I find out if there's any gaps that need to be filled to proceed at the level they are currently working. For adults I find out what their goals and desire are for music.

Classical taught piano lessons with private instructor.

Sheridan Community College in Sheridan, WY where I studied music.

$25 per half hour lesson in my home-studio or internet lesson.

$35 per half hour for travel students.

Discount for families with more than one student taking lessons.

I started teaching as a part-time income in 1981, which over time turned into a full-time career.

There are many teachers who have degrees but they do not have the experience or expertise to actually teach the piano. When looking for an instructor you want someone who is patient yet will keep the child on track. You also want a person who the student can bond with, an instuctor that makes the student feel welcome and at ease. Important too that the instructor teaches written scales as well as theory, so many are not nowadays. I find time and time again that students come to me and do not know how to read music.
