Violin Lessons With Nicole
About
Personalized, one on one instruction that is tailored to each students’ unique goals, learning styles, and age/experience level. I don’t use a “one size fits all” approach, but rather draw from many methods in order to address specific skills and fundamentals of musicianship. I thoughtfully sequence repertoire and etudes to build both a technician and a musician, and follow cues from each individual for pacing of new assignments and performances. Former students have gone on to major in music at conservatories and schools of music; have become concertmasters of their local youth orchestras; have participated in All-State and All-Region orchestras across the US; and most importantly, have had FUN and boosted their confidence!
The best part about teaching is the light bulb moment each student has when they've understood something for the first time. Violin playing doesn't progress linearly. It's more like a plateau. There's a giant leap in skills, followed by a necessary time of refinement and repetition (practice!). It's here that we develop patience and perseverance, and once past it, the joy that students feel in what they have accomplished is absolutely infectious!
