Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with talking briefly with the client to get a complete picture of what they are looking for, then we build a package that fits their needs perfectly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Chef Luke is a Le Cordon Blue graduate with a associates in culinary arts. He has also apprenticed under two different chefs and worked at some of the most famous culinary institutions in the Dallas area including Hotel ZaZa, and the Dream Cafe.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Everything is custom, and cooking classes are one of the most customizeable service we offer, so it is very hard to put a flat starting price.
How did you get started teaching?
LK Culinary was started 4 years ago to fit the needs of clients that want to take their skills to the next level but don't want to feel like just another student in a large scale classroom.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with everyone from young kids to adults of all different skill levels and walks of life. We have even consulted for professional food service operations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every project is a special experience when every project is custom designed and executed. Typical menu creation takes 1-3 days based on client feedback. From there we plan everything out to execute the cuisine the day of the event to maximize quality.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There are a lot of home cooks that might have a couple signature dishes, but a chef can create top notch cuisine and time tested techniques on a regular basis.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I can guide the client thru the planning process even if it is their first time with a private chef. As long as they have a open mind they will always be left happy and satisfied!
