Tennis On Wheels
About
Tennis has been in my life for over four decades. A native of Laredo Texas, I have become a fixture in Texas tennis through coaching, teaching and a playing career. I began my coaching tenure at Trinity University as the men's assistant coach after graduating and playing for the University of Texas Pan American. I also served as the Head Coach of both the men's and women's junior varsity at Trinity. Next I went on to be voted Conference Coach of the Year twice while coaching women's tennis at Texas State University where I coached over 20 All Conference Players.
In the 1990's, I had the unique position of preparing students to become tennis instructors as Director of
Tyler Junior College's Tennis Professional Management program. Tennis Tech has been represented by 35 states and 24 different countries. During my tenure at TJC, I taught college classes dealing with all facets of the game; Sports Psychology, Motor Learning, Fitness, Nutrition, and Scientific Breakdown of Strokes. In 1998, I was named in the Who's Who among American Teachers.
I have been a member of the United States Professional Teaching Association(USTPA) as an Elite Professional since 1982 and was voted USPTA Tester of the Year in 1989. I completed hundreds of hours of continuing education through both the USPTA and USTA, serving as a presenter at state and national conventions for both organizations and have served as a committee member for the USTA. I am a lifetime member of the USTA since1982 and have coached tennis, at Stanford, Clemson and Texas Christian University's, as well as internationally in England, France, Germany. Coach Paul currently teaches many top juniors who aspire to play college tennis.
I continue to hold both state and national rankings as a player. I have been ranked # 1 in TX numerous years and currently hold the #1 ranking in men's 55 doubles. I have been rated as high as a 5.5 by the USTA rating system and have represented Texas in Intersectional competition.
