Hey y'all! My name is Cara Bocanegra. I have been playing violin in quartets and orchestras for over two decades. Music is such a wonderful way to express yourself, and what better way to do so than to learn violin? Together we will explore the FUNdamentals of music and violin. We'll cover the basics of technique turned to proper practice habits turned to being performance ready.

I have been teaching violin for nine years, with students from Texas all the way to Alaska. I love sharing what I have learned over the years because music is awesome, the violin is awesome!
As a beginner or intermediate violinist, we'll expand your wheelhouse each week to achieve your goals as a musician. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We'll talk about your goals as a violinist, followed by your current exposure to reading music and level of playing the violin. I like to see what your aspirations are and what your current music abilities are. From there I devise a lesson plan that is unique to you, with focus on proper posture and technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing violin in quartets and orchestras for over two decades. I have my Bachelors of Science in Music Theory and Composition with emphasis in violin from William Jewell College.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner to intermediate.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that inspires you. It might take a couple of tries in finding the right one, and that is okay. You want a teacher who's personality is going to bolster your progress.
