Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Music is fun and joyful, and there's no reason why lessons cannot be the same!
My students love to play games that reinforce all that we are learning. I encourage questions from the student, and I am continually trying to learn how the student learns, so I can use the best method of teaching for that person individually. My goals for all my students are to master music and come to know the joy that making music brings!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education (General Music, Choral) with a Primary Proficiency in Piano and a Secondary Proficiency in Voice. My minor was in English.
ADDITIONAL TRAINING

Musikgarten training & licensure
Mayron Cole Training and certification in group piano
Ongoing seminars in classical music, sacred music, music and movement, voice, piano, theory, composition, arranging, teaching methods, etc. . . .

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was so excited when my student recently received the presidential 4-year scholarship at His music college.
My students shared their excitement in learning and playing Christmas music! I love seeing their faces light up.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet the teacher in person so you can see if it will be a good fit for you and your child and for me as the teacher. You'll also have a chance to see the studio and its location. This is a no-strings-attached, 20-30 minute interview where all your questions can be answered, and where I explain the lesson process and and studio procedures and policies.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what questions you may have concerning policies, practice requirements, instrument requirements, methods, fun, and "off-the-bench" activities during lessons.
