About
I started playing the piano at age five. I have been playing the piano for over thirty years and I have had the privilege of teaching for over seventeen years. I studied with Dr. Jie Lu at the University of Utah. I have experience with students of all ages and skill levels, from young children to adults.
My goal is to give you an enjoyable learning experience. I have fun with teaching and I like my students to have fun as well. I do have high expectations for my students and I want to see them succeed and progress each week. I try to keep a good balance between work and fun. On one hand, practicing is essential for success; on the other, the piano is a beautiful instrument that has given me so much joy and I would like to pass that joy on to you.

Music touches something special in all of us and I love bringing out the beautiful part in those who are learning to speak the language of music. It brings people together. I believe an instrument is an extension of one's self. It is a tool that we can use to express how we're feeling; we can release our emotions through our fingers instead of keeping it inside.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free introductory class for new students, so they can decide if we are a good fit. I love to put beginning students at ease, learning the piano really can be fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended the University of Utah, working towards a music degree with emphasis in Piano Performance. I studied underneath Dr. Jie Lu, an award winning concert pianist. I accompanied the University of Utah Women’s Chorus in their 2010 Fall Concert, and devoted a year to the University’s Outreach program, which gives under-privileged children in Title One schools the opportunity to learn the piano.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a flat fee of $75 monthly per student, for weekly 30 minute lessons taught in my home.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I love to work with beginners, and give them a good foundation in all aspects of playing, without moving too fast in one department and lacking in another.
