I have taken lessons for over 10 years and played for over 20. Recently, I studied at the University of Utah in the Piano Performance program. It was here that I learned that it is possible to follow your passion. Although I have chosen to study another discipline, I still study piano with a professor from the Piano Performance program. Over the past 14 years, I have worked as a teacher, an accompanist, a wedding pianist, a religious music provider and a background music provider. I have worked in both Canada and the US.
One of the things that I love about teaching is that I get to teach something that I am passionate about. I want to spread my love of the piano with everyone! This makes "work" enjoyable for the student and the teacher. I also love the variety of learning that takes place during the lessons.
Easy to work with. Understands my goals and provides appropriate material to achieve these goals. Understands the whole teaching experience. Explains each question with multiple answers and techniques if required. Highly recommended.
Kayla teaches you to not only play notes but also how to analyze the music in order to perform the musical number in the manner that the composer wrote the selection. Kayla is very easy going, professional, non-confrontational, complementary when appropriate and critic if necessary. Kayla is an excellent instructor and I highly recommend her to those individuals who want to play and understand music as the composer intended it to be performed.
My son is really excited to get back to piano lessons. Kayla is a great teacher she makes learning fun & friendly
