About

I am not just your average neighborhood teacher. I have been training since I was four years old, studied with some of the best teachers in the nation, pursued a Masters degree at Manhattan School of Music, and perform professionally on violin and viola throughout the Salt Lake Valley. I am dedicated to teaching the best habits from the beginning to help you or your child progress successfully through every level. Please visit drapermusicstudio.com for more information.

I enjoy the creativity needed to custom fit learning to each child and adult. I like the challenge of cooperative problem solving to achieve a beautiful end result. I also just enjoy working with people, and when they progress well, it brings me great satisfaction.

Excellent Teacher! Ms. Draper has studied music herself and the art of teaching music for a life time. Im continually impressed with her ability to build on her students strengths while finding what needs growth and giving personalized instruction to move them forward in skill and love for music. She is endlessly patient and positive. I appreciate that Ms. Draper is continually learning as a professional musician personally and passes on new ideas and methods to her students on a regular basis. Weve been with Draper Music Studios for many years and rate our experience as excellent!

She has done a fantastic job guiding them through all aspects of their development. I am amazed at the beauty and maturity of their sound at just nine and twelve. She has also helped them develop excellent music reading skills and they feel empowered to play anything. Mrs. Draper expects them to work hard and practice every day, and it really pays off. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to take violin education seriously. You will have great results!

We have been with Draper Music Studio for over 8 years. Mrs. Draper has taken our boys from beginning violinists to proficient and emotive musicians. She keeps it positive in lessons and instills in her students a desire to work hard. She expects great things from them and knows how to help them achieve it.

Frequently asked questions

At the first lesson, I will talk with a student about their previous experience and training.  Then I will have them play something they are comfortable with so I can get an idea of what technical challenges/strengths are there.  After assessing, we start together on a path that is best suited and level-appropriate for their continued learning and growth.

I did graduate work in Violin Performance at The Manhattan School of Music in New York and received my undergraduate degree in Music from Brigham Young University. I work as a professional freelance musician on both violin and viola.  I have also taught private lessons for appoximately 20 years.
