About
I am not just your average neighborhood teacher. I have been training since I was four years old, studied with some of the best teachers in the nation, pursued a Masters degree at Manhattan School of Music, and perform professionally on violin and viola throughout the Salt Lake Valley. I am dedicated to teaching the best habits from the beginning to help you or your child progress successfully through every level. Please visit drapermusicstudio.com for more information.
I enjoy the creativity needed to custom fit learning to each child and adult. I like the challenge of cooperative problem solving to achieve a beautiful end result. I also just enjoy working with people, and when they progress well, it brings me great satisfaction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At the first lesson, I will talk with a student about their previous experience and training. Then I will have them play something they are comfortable with so I can get an idea of what technical challenges/strengths are there. After assessing, we start together on a path that is best suited and level-appropriate for their continued learning and growth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did graduate work in Violin Performance at The Manhattan School of Music in New York and received my undergraduate degree in Music from Brigham Young University. I work as a professional freelance musician on both violin and viola. I have also taught private lessons for appoximately 20 years.
