Arnell Bertumen - Basic GUITAR, UKELELE, And Basic PIANO & Self-Healing TaiChiGong Teacher
About
I teach Foundational Know-How for Basic GUITAR, UKELELE, and Basic PIANO to Kids (7 to 18). And, I also teach Self-Healing TaiChiGong to Adults and Teenagers with Concentration and Self-Worth concerns and/or issues.
I am looking for Open-minded Students who can follow simple instructions, whose Parents and/or Guardians are supportive towards the success of their Child.
I've raised 4 Kids and a GrandPa of 7 (1 thru 13). I'm an Empty Nester and a Widower for 4 years now. I exercise regularly, love to ride my bike and swim, and cook most of my own dishes. Dancing, Singing, and Playing my Instruments occupy most of my time. I have Friends all over the World and regularly connects with them via Facebook.
Sharing what I know is my Passion.
It's always Gratifying to see when the Student feels that he/she doesn't need my Lessons anymore.
To me, that's the sign of the Seed I've planted have finally grown and now well rooted to become its own. To me, that means that the once Little Bird is now ready to Fly on its own.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Beginner Student MUST have its own Guitar (preferably a Nylon-stringed Classical Guitar).
The other additional optional but helpful tools to have down the line are a Metronome, an Electronic Tuner, a Foot Stool, a Capo, a Chord Book, a Music Stand, a Clip-on Light, and a Book Binder with clear Plastic Sheets.
All Lessons are 45-minute long. The 1st Lesson will cover Self-introduction, Skill Assessment, the Do-and-Dont's of Practice, 1st Lesson and the 1st Assignment given.
In the following Sessions, at their own pace space and time, Students are expected to practice the lessons learned and assignment given for at least a total of 3-5 hours a week before the next session. What is recommended Practice Time for Beginners are a short 15-30 Minute per Setting 2x a Day.
In the subsequent Lessons, students are expected to play the previous week's lesson(s) with some sense of confidence and mastery before moving to the next lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Self-Taught Music Educator. I don't have a Diploma in Music but simply a Product of my own experiences and the amount of time that I put in on Self-study, observing and learning from other Guitarists & Pianists and Music Teachers, as well as from participating in Seminar-Workshops and Master Classes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25.00 for a 45 Min Session.
How did you get started teaching?
The Summer of 2016, I taught a 12-Week Group Basic Guitar Program at St John the Baptist Parish in Draper (UT).
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary, Middle School and High School Students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It was a pleasure and a delight when I recently participated and played my version of 'Manha de Carnaval' at the Utah Classical Guitar Society's Open Mic.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Finding the Best Teacher to fit your needs may require Time and Patience. You will not know, until you have gone through several lessons, if the Teacher is able to effectively communicate the lessons well, transfer the KnowHowSkills, challenged and inspired the Student to continue Practicing & Playing.
My Rule of Thumb in Teaching is to help: Guide. Inspire. Motivate. Elevate.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Will it be possible to video record the Session so I can go back and review it on my own during the week?
The answer is: 'Absolutely Yes'!
