About

In my studio we use drums or other instruments to learn and improve our understanding of rhythm and reading. We march, clap, dance etc. to a popular song to feel the beat. We have rewards, competitions and games to help motivate and learn.

I really love working with people (especially children) and seeing them learn and understand new concepts and skills. I get great satisfaction when a student "gets" something!

She is an amazing, patient teacher. My kids werent too excited about piano to start but I really wanted them to have that skill. Now with basic skills under their belts, they are excited and loving it. I would recommend Connie to anyone looking for lessons!

She is an expert with her knowledge of music and she is kind. She has a love for music that shows through each of the lessons and is contagious, which is exactly what you want the kids to feel. Kids learn theory and skill in a fun way.

Frequently asked questions

The first thing I like to do is meet with the student and parent/guardian. At this time, the student can play something for me that they have learned (from a previous teacher or if they’ve taught themselves) show me their sight reading skills and knowledge of theory etc. This is a time they can let me know what they expect from lessons and we can discuss studio policy. We would discuss the books to be used and how a typical lessons would go.

I taught general music at an elementary school, completed and passed RCM Pedagogy Levels 1 -4 course and the Frances Clark Center Intermediate Pedagogy course. I belong to and participate in the MTNA and UMTA. I have always made a habit of studying music throughout my life. I started taking piano lessons when I was in first grade. I have also studied harp and continue to study voice and organ.

I charge for a half hour to 45 minute lesson once a week.

I taught music at an elementary school and there were students that would ask all the time if I would teach them how to play the piano. Between that and some children in my neighborhood asking me if I would teach them, I decided to teach piano and I LOVE it!

I love working with beginners of all ages! I have worked with students that have taken for two or three years and some that have never had a music lesson in their life. I have students in high school, junior high and elementary school.

We have had recitals at Piano Gallery where they have two pianos and we have had ensembles of 2 students per piano. The most recent we did an ensemble that involved popping balloons as part of the piece! It was fun for the kids and audience!

You can learn a lot just by talking to the teacher you are thinking about. If you can meet in person that is even better. You need to feel comfortable with your teacher. I think that is one of the most important things.

Expectations - how much practice time does the teacher recommend each day/week, will there be additional "homework", recitals or events to attend

Lessons - how long, what goes on in a typical lesson, will you be expected to learn new pieces on your own or will the teacher guide you through first
