Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, get to know their desires. What do they expect to gain from lessons? Then, we access the needs and proceed with recommending lesson books and any instruments needed. Next we establish weekly 1/2 hour lessons in our new studios with large observation windows in each door. Parents are always welcome to sit in on lessons, or they can wait in our comfortable lobby.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our teachers have music degrees and/or many years of teaching experience. Some even have Masters degrees in music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our lessons are billed on a flat rate of $88 per month or $100 per month for premium voice. The tuition is funded by automatic withdrawl from student accounts.
How did you get started teaching?
We have many teachers so their stories vary, but most started after many years of taking lessons themselves. They got to the point where people would seek them out for lessons. MOst of our teachers then went on from there to get music instruction at the college level.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types, All ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This past summer we had two awesome music camps. "Girls just wanna have fun" was a group vocal camp for ages 6-15. The camp was a smashing success, enjoyed by all. The performance at the end of the week was so fun that many of the girls requested a year round program which has now become our gir's performing group, "Songbirds". At our "JR Rock Band" summer camp kids learned to "Jam" together. They performed songs by the Beatles, Jackson 5, and other age approprate music. It was amazinf fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come to Logan Music Academy! We have more than one teacher to chose from and we can fit a myriad of schedules! Give us a try! You won't be sorry.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should be able to communicate what they expect to get out of lessons, what styles of music they enjoy, and they should be honest about their practice time limitations and about how long they epect to take lessons.
