About

I have taught piano for 15 years, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and hold an afternoon studio of about 35 students. One of my favorite topics to tutor and teach is Music Theory. Once you’ve gained a greater understanding and knowledge of theory, your sight-reading and ear training will become so much easier!

Whether you are looking for lessons or supplemental tutoring for beginner to advanced, I’m anxious to help! My afternoon studio schedule is almost full, but I’ve got plenty of time in the morning and mid-day to come to you or meet online. Looking forward to adding to your love and understanding of music!

I own Jordan Music School in West Jordan, Utah. You can find more information for this school at JordanMusicSchool.com. I also teach with Manwaring Music Studios. For a full bio, see www.manwaringmusic.com and click on “Teachers”.

There is something magical about watching a student understand how to read music and bring it to life through touch, phrasing, articulation, and more. I tell anyone who asks that I truly have the best job of anyone!

Students all learn in different ways, with different likes and dislikes, and it is such fun to find just the right fit for each student - young or old. Watching them rise to a challenge and accomplish that song they've had their eye on is such a fulfilling reward!

Frequently asked questions

I like to have a few lessons with their current books (or what I have on hand if they're a beginner), and then after the first few lessons we can see what type of learning style works best for them. Once we can establish that, along with their goals for their future in piano, then we can move forward with a cirriculum that best suits them.

-Bachelor of Arts in Music from University of Utah
-15 years experience in teaching piano and preschool music theory classes
