About
I care about my students and their progression and adapt to the needs and goals of each student (and if your goal is just to have fun, that's great too!) Lessons typically include technique, repertoire, a method book, music theory, sight reading, and ear training. Optional 15-minute virtual "check-in" in between lessons each week are at no additional cost. The studio typically meets for a recital each spring and fall semester.
I love helping students learn how they best move to play with good technique and breaking down music to make it easier. It's so rewarding to see them progress!
The current studio focus is online lessons for rural Utah students, providing access to twice-a-year in person recitals as well as the Achievement in Music program through the Utah Music Teachers' Association. I provide in-person lessons at a home studio in Spanish Fork as well.
*Teaching philosophy*
I believe in encouraging a love of music and a healthy mindset around learning. Every student, regardless of background, has a large capacity to learn. In this studio, overall musicianship is developed through sight reading, music theory, ear training, and technical exercises. Technique (healthy, free movement) is also emphasized. These pillars ultimately help the most rewarding part of lessons: playing inspiring music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free consultation or first lesson for new students, both for them to see if they like me as a teacher and for me to evaluate where the student is. Doing this enables us both to start on the same page when lessons begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Bachelor's in Piano Performance at Utah Valley University and am working on a Master's in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Utah State University. I've taken classes in music theory, ear training, music history, piano pedagogy, educational psychology, and elementary music methods, all of which have contributed to my teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is per lesson as of Fall 2025:
$40/hour, $30/45 min., $20/30 min.
Pay is per-semester, with three "free" weeks. Can pay up front, or an equal monthly rate.
How did you get started teaching?
What types of students have you worked with?
Everyone! 4-year-olds, retired folks, and aspiring music majors alike. Right now, my focus is on teaching online for rural Utah students and getting them together twice a year for recitals, as well as providing access to the Achievement in Music program through the Utah Music Teachers' Association.
