Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on their age and musical experience I usually start the new student on a 10 week course of the pascale method. This teaches them the most basics of how to hold the violin and identify basic music theory. We will then move through the suzuki books and any other music selection they desire to work with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
12 years recieving private lessons
7 years private lessons teaching
2 years professional performance
How did you get started teaching?
My father is the owner of Temecula Conservatory of Music. He introduced me to playing the violin at age 5 and has been my mentor through out my musical education and experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children ages ranging 4-18 years old. They range from having no experience up to the sixth book of suzuki.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had the beautiful opportunity of performing for old folks homes recently. Seeing the residents get emotional and be touched by my music is always a precious experiences that fills me with joy.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise you to go ALL IN and not halfway! Those that practice every week see results and those that are only half committed lose steam. I always challenge my students to put in the full effort!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about your past experience with music. What did you enjoy about music? What is your favorite genre? What has inspired you to want to learn to play this new instrument? Every student has different experiences and it is helpful for me to know as a teacher so that I can tailor their musical education to their needs.
