About
Hi! My name's Jamie. I teach piano in Murray, Utah. Sharing music is one of my favorite things to do. Whether it's for fun or a serious pursuit, my job is to help you find your musical expression. I am classically trained, but whatever piano path you pick, the fundamentals remain the same. I've taught for years across many ages, kids and adults, beginners and long-time players. I'm excited to help you start or continue on your musical journey!

I have been a student for 3 months and I look forward to each lesson. Brittney is very patient, funny, and animated. I am making progress weekly with her practice instructions in addition to the personal instruction. I am a very happy student.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson (FREE) is always an interview to see if we are a good match (hey, there are tons of teachers around here!) My method is to gauge the student's current level and learning style, learn what their Reason for music is, then over the next few lessons pick an approach that best suits them to get them where they want to go, whether that's
classical, jazz, modern, pop, rock, whatever,
learning by reading, learning by ear, a mash of the two, some other method,
etc.
Basically, you (the student) tell me what you want and where you want to go, I'll tell you the minimum effort required to get there, we check in regularly to make adjustments, and as long as we're both having fun, lessons continue!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Diploma of Piano Pedagogy from Utah State University
