Christie's Piano Studio

Christie has been teaching piano since 2007. She loves working with aspiring musicians of all ages, helping them find their own unique style and favorite genres of piano playing. She loves highlighting students' achievements each year with fun, themed recitals, and often uses a second piano to add digital effects to students' performances, enhancing their overall music experience. Christie is also a published composer and singer-songwriter, and has been writing and producing music alongside Kevin Memley- a world renowned composer- since 2006. She loves sharing her knowledge of songwriting with her students, in addition to traditional methods of note reading. She has a degree in Psychology from Cal State Fresno, and believes it has helped tremendously in simplifying the way students think about different patterns in music. Many of Christie’s students have gone on to perform in their school jazz bands & talent shows, community & church events, and write & record their own music. One student performed at Carnegie Hall with her high school this past Spring. Christie was named a Steinway Top Teacher in 2017. Styles Christie teaches include classical, jazz & blues, pop/rock, chording, contemporary, and songwriting. It's always fun meeting new people and families, and having the opportunity to help them meet their music goals, whether it's playing at a school talent show, learning to write and record, or mastering a song they've always wanted to learn how to play.

I love finding what styles of music the student connects with the most, and then helping them advance in that area.

I love putting on recitals to highlight students' acheivements and help them gain confidence in public performance. I have put on "theme" recitals throughout the years... such as "Rockin' Summer Recital" focused on Pop / Jazz / Rock music, "Fabulous Fall" with Spooky Halloween Tunes and Movie Themes, and Christmas recitals with traditional and new age holiday music.

I'm all about making piano lessons fun and productive so the students have something to be excited about!
