About
Sue Buzzard is a violinist with an eclectic background in classical, jazz, folk, and improvisation. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, she earned a B.M. in Performance and Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music, and an Ed.M. in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Combining the best of contemporary and classical worlds with 15 years of teaching experience, her passion lies in empowering violinists to tap into their skill and creativity.
Sue's teaching philosophy lies in bringing agency to players. A Suzuki-certified teacher and Suzuki kid herself, Sue finds what motivates students to play their instrument, and guides them towards musical goals in the long and short term. Teaching creativity alongside skills and technique is her passion, and supporting students at every skill level to reach their goals is her strength.
As a D'Addario educational clinician, Sue teaches free educational workshops in schools across the country. As a performer, she has performed in the US and abroad, and played alongside Howard Shore, Wyclef Jean, Mark O'Connor, Darol Anger, and more GRAMMY award-winning artists.
As a studio player, she appears on dozens of albums and soundtracks, including the Netflix original series Abla Fahita: Drama Queen, for which she contracted and led the recording session. As an arranger, she creates string quartet versions of beloved film, TV, and anime series soundtracks.
