Music is my passion. Everything is a song. Singing, playing the piano is a 24 hour a day adventure.
I love to teach people of all ages. I taught in Salt Lake City for twenty years and had a very large studio. My University of Utah and BYU training in Pedagogy helped me learn how to teach. Also having six children who play the piano has been in my favor because I understand young people. I was a Kindergarten aide for two years which helped me teach by building skills systematically. I have a Bachelors degree from the U of U.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I schedule an introductory lesson giving my expectations. I get to know the student and parents, to discover how they learn; visual, auditory or kinesthetic. I test the new student's knowledge level and piano skills level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played the piano and have sung most of my life.
I have a B.S in a Health Science degree. I took piano pedagogy classes at the University of Utah and BYU. I have attended music composer workshops several times a year throughout my twenty years of teaching in Salt Lake City.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per half hour for the 1st child in a family, $15 for the second child.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught after two years of college, then stopped when I was married and busy with young children. When I was older I finished my degree, then started teaching again.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages. I prefer to start a child at age seven.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My students competed in a Roland Corp. piano event in Commerce, CA. In Salt Lake, a competition was held with forty students. Four of my students won a spot in the California competition, out of five spots.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Decide what your goals are first. Meet with a variety of teachers to see if they meet your desired goals.
