Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We bring them in and help them start to learn the basics, we offer a trial class, or you can just come in and sign up. Everyone does a no obligation introductory lesson to get the feel of our studio
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training in Kenpo for 34 years, and have earned my 8th degree Black Belt. All of our instructors have several years of experience in their art
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have several different pricing options, they are easily explained in person
How did you get started teaching?
I started to help my instructor teach, and then started my own classes so that my kids would have another night to practice and advance their skills
What types of students have you worked with?
Through the ten years that I've been teaching I have worked with many different students of all abilities
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have had several students draw pictures for me, and come in so excited to tell me about something exciting that happened to them
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go try out different schools to see what you like. Don't base your decision on just cost, notice the way that the classes are structured and see if it fits what's comfortable to you
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What they're trying to get out of the martial arts, what they are really trying to get and if they're going to put in the work
