About

I am an independent musician of 15 years, self taught in piano and ukulele and constantly challenging myself to learn new instruments and creative styles of music. Though not classicly trained, I know that I have something special to offer my students because of the willpower, dedication and drive it took to teach myself.

I focus on the beginner levels of piano, learning to read music and the basics of music theory but also make sure my students enjoy their lessons AND their practice. I encourage my students to explore their creativity in music by seeking songs they wish to learn and by experimenting with their own melodies. I feel confident in my ability to unite discipline, purpose and enjoyment in music.

It is such a pleasure to share our passions and talents with others. Music is something that was meant to unite and connect people and I am always happy to assist someone else on their journey to finding their passion.

There are definitely musicians who are much more qualified to teach than myself, but I do feel that I have a natural gift which was able to be recognized BECAUSE I did not recieve classical training. I had to really want it, and i did! At age 5, while dancing ballet to my mother's piano playing, I suddenly knew that I would play the piano; from that time on I never stopped trying. I continually pushed my abilities further and still do.

It's so much fun!!!

There are few things that can completely arrest my attention like music does, specifically, the piano.

Frequently asked questions

Taking the time to get to know my students is very important to me. I want to make sure that I know how best to support them and how best to help them grow.

Before the first session I will want to know what level my student is at so that I can adequately prepare lessons and provide the appropriate materials; phone call is the best way to obtain this information.

We then begin our work. Education about proper technique, posture and commitment will be given. Time for guided practice on both technique and music theory will be given so my student feels confident to practice on their own. I will give recommendations about practice and follow up at each following lesson about their practice and progress.

We will set goals and timeframes for when to reach them. As the instructor and coach I will help my student achieve their goals through accountability.

I suggest a music journal to my students where they can record their musical journey and explore their goals and wishes.

All this, I try to make enjoyable and rewarding. Balance between discipline, purpose and fun is very important to me.

I am self taught and trained, meaning I have sought out informational texts, conducted my own studies and educated myself about proper technique and music theory.

I feel that my self driven journey in music is a tremendous asset to any instructing that I will do. The only reason I have in wanting to teach music is my deep passion and understanding for it.

I continue to have an open mind as the times continue changing. Art is ever-evolving. I have a profound respect for classical music as well as a fascination with what is new and revolutionary. There is a time for timelessness and a time for growth in all things.

I do not pretend to have a perfect knowledge of anything and would rather claim to know nothing than anything; that being said, I can help others find their way closer to the dream they possess, and, in lending an ear to their music, will hopefully see them flourish.

If more of us shared our gifts, talents and dreams, maybe we wouldn't all be so reliant upon a money system which seems to be hurting humanity more than it is helping it.

I do what I can to work for myself and in a way that brings richness and joy to others.

Mostly younger peoples, but would very much enjoy teaching anybody who is young at heart!

Becoming aware that I would soon be made a mother was the most absolute joy I have ever felt. My husband and I look forward to the birth of our first child.

Simply get to know them a bit. I always thought of my teachers as friends more than disciplinary persons. I can be one of your best friends and allies if you will only let me.

Why do I want to learn music?

Am I willing to put in the time?

How do I best learn?

What sort of structure best helps me achieve my goals?

Who can I call on for support while I am learning something new?

Do I trust myself enough to try new things?

Will I push through the difficult times?

Can I accept that I am completely different from everyone else and I may learn differently?
