About
Teaching students the way they learn is at the heart of my philosophy.
Experience: I have 30 years of teaching violin & viola ages 4 to adult.
Qualified: Bachelors in violin performance and Masters in viola performance plus extensive study and training in both Suzuki and Traditional methods.
Proven results: My students consistently place in top chairs of the most advanced school and youth orchestras and in regional and district orchestras.
Personalized Instruction: Individual lessons allow the teacher to work with the student’s personality and learning style- the goal is always to teach each student the way they learn.
Motivation: Regular recitals keep students on track developing their performing skills as well as their technique and musicality
Accomplishment: Confidence and self-esteem come from accomplishing goals, both small and large. Lessons teach students to focus on developing technical and musical skills.
Depth of Knowledge: I have years of professional experience performing in symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, string quartets, and solo recitals on both violin and viola. Students benefit from the extent and depth of my professional knowledge in each lesson.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Interested students and their families are invited to observe a lesson and meet with me privately before deciding to start lessons.
Being comfortable and relaxed is essential for learning to play the violin and is my first goal in getting to know and establishing an effective working relationship with a student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nearly 30 years of teaching ages 4 to adult. A Bachelors in violin performance and Masters in viola performance plus extensive study and training in both Suzuki and Traditional methods. What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages from beginner to virtuoso. While I do not focus on teaching special needs students, I have taught a particular autistic student for the last 20 years. I have learned more from him than from all the classes I have taken or books I have read.

Look for someone who is dedicated to teaching as a full time occupation.
Find someone who wants to help students learn to play their best.
Look for depth of experience in both performing and in teaching.
