I am an accomplished violist, violinist and pianist with concentrations in Strings Pedagogy, Piano Performance, and Composition. I feel extremely passionate about the power of music to create positive change in our communities and the world, and I have a strong belief in the integral value of music education/outreach for building well rounded and engaged citizens.
I approach teaching from a holistic mindset that each individual requires a unique tailored approach based on what they need and are looking to achieve in lessons. My goal is to tie all of the different facets about learning an instrument into an appreciation and belief in the beauty and joy of music.
I have been teaching strings for the past six years at a number of locations across Northern VA and currently hold my Master's in String Pedagogy from George Mason University.
I especially enjoy watching students discover their untapped ability and the blossoming of confidence that develops from mastery of a new skill. Learning music is a life long pursuit and it is invigorating to see people from all ages, backgrounds, and experiences take on the challenge of learning a new instrument. It is especially rewarding when a student who doesn't believe they can do it or thinks something is too hard comes out the other side having achieved their goal after putting in hard work

The initial lesson is used in order to survey the student's proficiency on the instrument as well as to ascertain their musical background, goals, and motivations. If it is mutually felt to be a good fit, we will proceeed with developing a plan for lesson progress.
I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Music as well as a Master's in String Pedagogy. I have been teaching and performing in the Northern VA area for the past 6 years.
