How happy it makes others feel and how much it improves their lives. Hearing people tell me that they take less medication; their balance has improved; feel much happier as a result of taking my classes makes me know that I am truly making a difference.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The new student comes to class and pays AFTER the class, ensuring that s/he had a great time. At the conclusion of the class, I chat with him/her and offer the many options I have after the initial class, as well as a card with class schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Classical Music from the University of VA; a Master of Music in Classical Voice Performance from the Manhattan School of Music; Group Fitness Certification from the Athletic and Fitness Association of America; licenses to teach Zumba®, Zumba® Gold, Zumba® Kids, Zumba® Kids Junior, Zumba® Step, Zumba® Toning, and Piloxing®. I am also CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
I am also a native of Ghana, West Africa, and have developed my own African dance (Afrobeats) class.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The first Zumba® class is $5; drop-in thereafter is $10, but there are also package options to save money: $29 for 5 classes; $49 for 10 classes; $45 for 1 month of unlimited Zumba® classes; and $125 for unlimited 3 months of Zumba® classes.
How did you get started teaching?
I went to a class 9 years ago and fell in love, as it incorporaed music and dance from all over the world, AND fitness. I lost 15 months within the first 3 months of the classes, and have been addicted ever since!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have a wide range of students, from 20's all the way to early 70's, in all levels of physical fitness. I've even had a deaf student!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was involved in a special fundraiser Zumba® class for Autism in Bowie, MD, where several instructors get together to raise funds to help those on the Autism spectrum go to Camp Bling, a special summer camp just for them, to have fun. It was my fourth time participating, and my favorite part is at the end, when two singers on the Autism spectrum sing for us.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go to the class and see if s/he is a fit for you, and feel free to ask questions!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What level is your class? Are you CPR certified? Do you have a dance background? Are you group exercise/personal trainer certified? What should I expect in my first class?
