Caroline takes a mindful approach to her teaching, tailoring the lessons to students’ interests and learning styles. When taking lessons with Caroline you can expect a warm and encouraging environment, and song choices and teaching styles that suit you best. Caroline has the teaching and performance experience necessary to allow students of any age or skill level to thrive.
Caroline has had a passion for music and teaching from an early age. She began playing piano at the age of 6, and has continued her music education throughout her life, studying with various private instructors. She began studying voice at 12, and still studies today. A classically trained pianist and vocalist, Caroline enjoys all music, from Bach and Mozart to Elton John and Katy Perry, with a special place in her heart for musical theater. Caroline's favorite thing about music is how it can move and unite people of any background. Her favorite part of teaching is when a student plays or sings their favorite song for the first time, and how proud they are of their accomplishments!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All students can expect a warm, encouraging environment, with lessons and songs tailored to their interests and learning style. Students just beginning or advanced who want a challenging, fast-paced learning experience, or students who prefer a more relaxed paced will be able to find either during their lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Caroline has had several years of teaching experience in the Richmond area, and studied music at VCU. Other prior experience and study include private lessons, classical training in voice, piano, pedagogy, and theory.
Caroline has performed as a soloist and accompanist for various organizations and ensembles in the Richmond area, including the Richmond Ballet, Christ United Methodist Church, Character Works Youth Theater, SPARC, Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, and private voice studios.
