I started learning piano at age four. My parents made sure I stayed with it and I took lessons through age eighteen. I studied Music at University of Idaho and then went on and pursued Music in a variety of ways. I accompanied choirs, worked with various vocalists and instrumentalists, and have served as a church music director professionally for three different congregations.

I taught when I was a young adult and returned to teaching three years ago. I find I love teaching so much now because it is a thrill to see a student make a connection in learning each new step along the way. Music is my joy and so it is awesome to share that with others and empower them to enjoy and play Music too!

I prefer to teach from my home in Bothell as I am set up here to teach well. I will consider teaching in homes in the right situation (private space for lessons, full 88 key piano kept tuned, no distractions or others in the space during lessons) and my rates are adjusted for distance and time involved.

My styles include Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Pop, Light Rock and Easy Listening. I no longer perform Classical Music but I still practice Classical for my own technique and enjoyment.

I love to teach students Music Theory as well as Technique so that they understand over time what they are doing and how Music works. I also can focus on particular genres of Music for teens and adult students who have basics learned and want to be able to play Blues or Gospel etc. I teach chord structures and how to learn to play by cultivating one's 'ear' for Music as well as great sight reading skills.

I work with a 42 year old choir in Seattle - - Total Experience Gospel Choir led by Rev Pat Wright. I sing with them, do some accompaniment, and over time am learning to direct Gospel choir. I have a band called 'Cheri & Friends' and we perform various venues depending on what we're invited to do. I am also a composer and am in process of recording and releasing a Blues single this winter!
