Sandra shows expertise, enthusiasm, and patience at every lesson. It is a joy to hear my granddaughter so excited to learn and play the violin.

Sandra manages to be both fun/funny and rigorous at the same time. She has nurtured my sons interest in music theory and music history as well as his developing technique. He has been learning violin with her for 6 years (since he was 5) and is now a productive and willing practice-er (mostly), loves all kinds of music, and is a pleasure to listen to.

Sandra is the best teacher I have ever had. She can deal equally well with five year olds and octogenarians like me. Her knowledge and enthusiasm are contagious.

Ive had a great experience with Sandra. Im coming back to violin lessons after a 15 year hiatus. She is patient, fun, and has done a great job at choosing music/books for me. As an adult student, it has been so easy to come back to playing with her as a guide. I highly recommend lessons with Sandra!

I took violin lessons as an adult beginner with Sandra for a couple of years. Sandra was enormously understanding of my initial fears toward the instrument and helped me grow to love an instrument that I had owned for several years yet never gotten the nerve to actually try to play. She has great tips for breaking through performance/practicing anxiety and after lessons frequently sends follow-up emails with interesting links or attachments of other exercises to try. She worked with me on bowing technique as well as finger dexterity; her long performance history makes her an excellent resource for learning ergonomic techniques for playing string instruments. I think for both children and adult beginners, as well as for people who want to take their technique to the next level, Sandra is an excellent choice of teacher.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually, we exchange e-mails (and/or chat on the phone) to see if we'd be a good fit. After that, we may meet briefly to get to know each other and see how we'd work together.
How we actually start depends on your/your child's level, age, interests, etc. I'm familiar with both the Suzuki approach and more traditional ones and tailor my approach to the individual.
