What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know the student to understand their goals with music.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Violinist Kristina Hallberg has been playing professionally since high school when she was the Concertmaster of the Curtis High School orchestras and a member of the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association. She joined the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster in 1998 and served as Concertmaster from 2000 – 2004. She performed with the Philharmonic as a soloist after winning the Seattle Philharmonic Concerto Competition in 2001. She was the Concertmaster of the University of Puget Sound Orchestra, where she received a BA in Psychology and was a member of the violin faculty at Seattle’s Music Center of the Northwest from 2002 – 2005. She has played with the Tacoma Symphony, the Everett Symphony, and Bremerton Opera, has performed at Village Theatre and Pike Place Market in Seattle, and has extensive experience performing as a professional chamber musician. She runs KH Violin Studios and gives private violin lessons to students, ages eight and older, from beginners to advanced. In her spare time, Kristina enjoys her two charismatic cats and listening to music of various genres.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in high school when I was the Concertmaster of the orchestra, and a couple of my classmates needed help with the orchestra music.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all levels and ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my 6 year old students recently finished the Twinkle Variations in Suzuki Book 1. It was a wonderful accomplishment for him, and he's excited to move on.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest the student try a lesson with a few different instructors to make sure it's a good fit.
