I've taught students of all ages and levels for over 9 years in Washington state and online. Music is my passion and I love sharing my experience and knowledge of music with my students. I studied piano, violin, and music composition at Western Washington University and have experience playing in a variety of ensembles including local symphony, orchestra, choir, jazz bands, pit orchestras, and alternative folk.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give all new students a placement test in our first lesson. I ask questions about prior music experience, instrument 'anatomy', theory questions, ect. This gives me a general idea of the students' current level of playing. I also ask what type of music they're interested in learning and what inspired them to learn violin or piano. I spend A LOT of time planing each lesson for my students, finding additional online resources for them to access in between lessons, emailing any questions my students have throughout the week, and arranging music when we can't find sheet music that's the right level for them.

I charge $50 and hour and teach in 30, 45, and 60 minute sections.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching violin and piano when I was 16. That's around the same time I really became serious about pursuing music as a career. I began composing music and learning how to play and write in different styles I hadn't been introduced to before. At Western Washington University I studied music composition, piano, and violin. In-between now and then, I've continued to compose for a varitety of formats and perform locally. All the while I’ve continued to teach violin and piano lessons and pass along all that I have learned.
