Jeffrey Moidel Voice & Piano Lessons
About
I teach classical voice as well as musical theater. I have also worked with many jazz and pop vocalists. In addition to being a voice teacher and coach, I am also a pianist and piano instructor. I have no problem playing full accompaniments for my students. My background includes training at the Mannes College of Music in NYC to be a concert pianist and vocal coach, being an opera coach for the Aspen Music Festival, Seattle Opera, Tacoma Opera, Skagit Opera, the Vocal Institute at UCSB, being a voice, piano and diction instructor for Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, and other schools and programs. As a pianist, I have performed internationally as a vocal accompanist and also as a pianist in chamber music and as a soloist. I have recorded with John Denver and Anne Hampton Calloway, both as a pianist and back-up singer.
I enjoy teaching bel canto vocal techniques, as well as exploring problems using "inner-game" techniques. In addition, I am happy to work on stage-fright issues, posture and body allignment, and developing a strong connection with the audience.
In teaching piano, I focus on having an excellent relaxed technique, and increasing musical skills, like sight-reading and interpretation. I like to use “inner-game” techniques to help the student to develop a keen sense of musical flow and style. And I love problem solving with the student!
