    Frequently asked questions

I find that every student is a little different, which is why we always begin with an Orientation. This is free, and is an opportunity to learn more about your child's musical journey, so we can create a customized curriculum that meets their needs.
I am a classically trained pianist. I have my Master's in Music Education from the University of Kansas, and have studied post-graduate under some of the top names in the classical world, including Celia Goering and Sir Wladimir Jan Kochanski. I have been studying the piano for over 40 years, and teaching for over 2 decades. I have taught hundreds of students, many of whom now work as performing artists or teachers in the industry.
Yes, tuition details are available on my website, www.PlayLoveLearn.com under the Lessons tab. Tuition is paid monthly, with the student receiving one-on-one tutoring sessions once per week.
I have been teaching all my professional life. My mentor, Liz D'Urso began my teaching career as head of the Theory department at Keyboard Klassics/Piano Man in Kansas City.
I have worked with almost every skill level and age imaginable. My youngest student began just after his 4th birthday. My oldest was 82 years young when she began lessons.
Our yearly Christmas recital is my favorite time of the year. It's more than an opportunity to showcase your talent and skill. It's also a time to get inspired by other students and for parents to network with other parents, sometimes even beginning friendships that last a lifetime.
I would suggest that you interview several teachers, and choose the one who you connect with the best. A teacher might be the best teacher in the world, but sometimes that connection with the student just isn't there. Learning is a collaborative process, and it sometimes takes a few tries to find that perfect match.
Think about what inspired you to play the instrument for the first time. Maybe it was a certain song you heard in a movie or on a video game. Maybe it was a particular feeling you had when you first heard that instrument played live in concert. Try to recapture that magic when you're putting in the hard work of practicing. Remember, the goal may be far away, but every single step brings you closer to it.
