About

I encourage all of my students to learn to enjoy music. I want them to have fun learning and learn lifelong skills. Learning a variety of music helps them to enjoy it. My students work on classical, some popular and secular music if they choose to. I've had students participate in numerous competitions and placing with high honors.

Music helps students learn in so many ways. In my almost 50 years of teaching, nearly all my students have been consistent honor roll students. I have had 4 students who were Valedictorians of their High School. Music helps them with a variety of skills.

I have taught piano for almost 50 years. I started teaching in Pueblo, Colorado and taught in a couple different places before spending 18 years teaching in Tacoma, WA. The Air Force then moved us to Hampton, Virginia where I taught for 23 years. We have now returned to WA but to the Gig Harbor area. I've had students participate in numerous competitions and placing with high honors.

I have been a member of Music Teachers National Association and a member of their state and local associations. I am also a member of the National Guild of Music Teachers. I studied Music Education at Colorado State University-Pueblo. I am also a violinist and have played with numerous symphonies wherever we were. Most recently with Symphonicity, the Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach, playing first violin and with other groups in the area. I do not teach violin. I was also pianist for Cradock Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. Prior to that I subbed for a number of Churches. I enjoy playing and making music and try to give that to my students as well.
