Elizabeth's Music Studio provides teachers of various skillsets teaching guitar, piano, & vocals. I am one of EMS' voice teachers in this program. I am one of very few in this area that provides contemporary voice training with an undertone of classical technique. I personalize my students' journeys by playing to their strengths and working on ways to challenge their skillset.

I am learning as much as my students are in the process of vocal training. I have the privledge of learning about each student and challenge myself as a teacher to communicate in ways that cater to each student. The most fulfilling part of this job is observing my students' progress and seeing all of their hardwork pay off in the long run.

She was great with my daughter! She took the time to get to know my daughter so she could assess exactly what worked for her. We were very happy with Sierra and would highly recommend her to anyone!

    Frequently asked questions

With a new student, the first lesson is a chance for me to get to know my student (and vice versa) as well as to gage where my student's skillset is, which helps me determine what approach I will take with them. I will typcially have a conversation about the student's past muscial experiences as well as what general goals they may have in mind with taking vocal lessons. Then, I will provide a few warm ups that are specific to testing out my new student's range & strength.

I have been in choirs and muscials growing up & have had years of experience in worship teams and leading a worship band at my church. As of now, I am taking vocal lessons for myself and I have continued to seek out many different resources to expand my knowledge & skillset in order to grow my musicianship and toolbox for my students. I have considered pursuing a Bachelors in Voice/Music.

I start every new student at $120 a month for weekly 30min sessions. 2nd year students then get a choice to upgrade to 45min a week at $180 a month. Students at a more advanced level will then be offered a chance to have weekly 1hr lessons for $240 a month.

I was approached by Elizabeth (owner of Elizabeth's Music Studio) about her new Assistant Music Teaching program and went through the training process to become one of her voice teachers.

So far, I have mainly worked with students within the 12-18 age range. However, I am looking into expanding the age group that I take in.

I have just completed my first year of officially giving vocal lessons (Fall 2019 - Spring 2020) and it has been a fulfilling learning experience. I am very proud of the students I've worked with and I'm looking foward to the opportunities that lie ahead of me.

Consider what styles you would like to incorperate into your training. The voice is a very multifacited instrument with many colors, textures, and approaches. Along with that are a wide variety of muscial styles & genres such as classical/choral, contemporary/contemporary gospel, musical theater, jazz, and many more. Find a teacher with the style that you are most interested in, or even one that you think could challenge you! This journey is yours and along the way you will learn what styles and approaches you enjoy the most.

Music is a fulfilling & therapudic tool that you can endlessly grow in. Along with that, there are so many paths that musicians will take. This is only the beginning! If you put your head down and work hard, you never know what opportunities will come your way.

    1. Think about what your goals are. Is it to train for auditions? Is it to prepare for a performance? What are your hopes and dreams? Do you want to become a music teacher or performer of some kind? Or do you simply like to sing and want to challenge yourself a bit more?

    2. Consider what genre or style you want to learn. What styles are you drawn to singing along with or listening to? Are there artists that inspire you? What kind of songs feel good on your voice when you sing?

    3. Consider the skills you want to grow in. Do you want to learn how to sing with more strength? Do you want to learn performance techniques? Are you wanting to expand your range (higher and/or lower)? Are you interested in learning ear training or sight reading?

These are the many kinds of questions that will create an even more personalized experience for you. Communicating this to your teacher will help your teacher create a more of a personal path and will allow you to get your specific needs met.
