Heidi Barker is a violinist, chamber musician, and teacher who loves using music to build community and kindle creative thinking. Her passion for sharing music with students of all ages has led her to participate in concerts, workshops, and internships both as a performer and as a teacher through partnerships with non-profit organizations internationally and in the U. S.
She earned her master's in string pedagogy at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and her master's in Chamber music performance at the Leonard Sorkin International Chamber Music Institute.
As someone who loves sharing music and grew up in a musical home, I want to know what kindled YOUR interest in the violin or viola. What are the styles, pieces and stories that brought you here and how can I meet you there and further your pursuit of music?
Though my training and experience are definitely strongest in the classical field, I love to work using folk, fiddle, swing, and other styles!
