What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Learning the parts of the violin and bow. Learning to read music. Proper hold of the instrument. Beginners start learning to play music Pizzicato style, then with the bow! Easy step by step instructions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
11 years private violin lessons. Currently working part-time at a local music store as their violin/cello teacher. I teach beginning through advanced violin students and beginning through intermediate cello students.

How did you get started teaching?
I love the violin. Just wanted to share what I have learned with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 6-71 currently. Some have been autistic and mentally/physically challenged.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A Recital a year ago featuring my cello student who had been taking lessons less than a year.
She now plays her cello in a chamber orchestra
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire someone who focuses on violin technique. Also, hire a teacher who is compassionate and understanding of a student's goals and capabilities.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals, short and long term, as regards learning to play the Violin or Cello? To be able to play in an orchestra, at church, or just for my own enjoyment?
