Mrs. Denie Riggs is an ourstanding teacher. She is currently teaching both my children (ages 5 & 7) and she does a wonderful job. She makes the classes fun and interactive. Highly recommend!

How did you get started teaching?

Denie Riggs has served as a church pianist since she was 10 and been teaching since she was 12 years, now celebrating over 50 years of instructing students.

Michael has been instructing guitar for 20 years.  He is also one of the primary teachers for Early Childhood Music.

Denie Riggs authored a seven Year piano-based music course for preschoolers.   She also has done research in children with autism and has authored 'Music Helps Autism' and works with students with special needs at her school. The piano is the number for brain function enhancement and so we apply those principles to our students and watch them thrive.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

We love to watch Our students perform ... as  performing skills are vital to a person's personal growth and filter down into everyone's life.  When they start performing early, they love it and never get stage fright.  We give all of our students opportunity to perform several times a year in formal and less formal settings.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Denie has worked with students of all ages and abilities/disabilities.  She believes if a student has desire to learn and time to practice, anyone can Learn and receive the benefits of piano study.  And the more that Students engage with music, especially at the piano, the greater the brain function enhancement that occurs.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Of course, to study the piano,  everyone needs to have a keyboard or piano in their home and adequate time to practice.  The practice preferred will vary by age and lesson type.
