What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Finding out what the student is interested in and go from there. Everyone will learn the basics while learning and enjoying their favorite songs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associates and bachelors degree in music. I studied jazz and classical piano at the college level. I also have gospel training outside school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$80 a month, which covers four thirty minute lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching privately on my own, then over the years taught for myself and outside companies.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner, jazz, gospel, classical, and piano arranging. I've taught students all ages. Right now, my oldest student is 79-years old, my youngest has been 4-years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy playing for private parties, weddings, and various religious ceremonies.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that had an actual interest in the student, not just the parent's check book.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I spending enough time on something?
