About
I attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where I studied Double Bass. I played with the Nashville Symphony, Phoenix Symphony and was principle bassist with the Mesa Symphony. I studied Classical Guitar with a full scholarchip at the Blair Academy Prep School of Music at Vanderbilt University. I have done studio recordings and have worked as a music director at various churches in the valley. I've taught private lessons for 30+ years.
Some of my students have gone to play professionally. I have students who have studied with me for many years and it is delightful to watch them grow in their knowledge of music. Music is the greatest form of expression that goes beyond words and it is an awesome experience to see people ingratiate and either go far with it or just enjoy it for the love of music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out what interest the student has, not just in music but other areas in their life. This way, I can determine the style of music they may have interest in doing. I start with having the student play with all fingers on their left hand. This way, they start to train their hand with the spacing between the frets. I generally do not use a pick in the right hand. This helps the student learn where the strings are located by feeling through their finger tips.
