Golden Guitar Studios
About
One way I stand out is for being goal directed towards a thorough understanding of music applied to any instrument (I specifically teach guitar, bass, ukulele). I like a strong foundation but also appreciate the value of exploring. It's a great privelidge to help people find 'their' music. Since it takes a long time to learn to play well, I have developed patience along the way. Everyone has their individual learning curves, no two are alike. Students are learning how to learn.
I have 30 + years experience as an active teacher, performer, composer, student, have success with students of all ages, levels, and interests. Along with being a doctorate student at ASU, I am an active musician in the Phoenix/Chandler area, teaching and playing in a variety of venues and manifestations. I play multpile styles, rock, jazz, blues, etc. Please see my website at goldenguitarstudios.com for more information.
Music isn't work (even though it can be a business). Teaching is an important part of being a musician. Sharing the art is essential, as well as self-instructive. This is not to mention the joy from seeing a student blossom. As a performer, hours of practice each day only seems like minutes, and I can't wait to get back to it when away. After a performance, I always wish I was still up there.
My qualifications include doctorate studies in music at ASU (finish date May 2018) as well as an adjunct professor of music at South Mountain Community College.
