I am passionate about helping my students develop into the best they can be. I use a variety of methods knowing that a "one-size-fits-all" approach does not work. Everyone learns differently. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses. My job is to ultimately put myself out of a job by teaching my students to have enough tools to self-correct once they have enough experience to do so. Because I am a pro- performer, I know what it takes to succeed. This brings a unique skill set that not many teachers have.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe that laying a solid technical foundation is the key to success. I also know from my own experience that understand how the voice works with the body is essential to developing the best sound possible. I require that my students record all their lessons so they can hear themselves and the progress they are making.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN for a bachelor's degree in voice performance. I trained in New York City after college and spent 30 years on the professional operatic and musical theater stage. I KNOW what it takes to have a pro-career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$60/hour, $45/45 minutes. I do not teach 30 minute voice lessons, but will teach 30 minute piano lessons. I work with voice students age 13 and older and piano students from 1st grade and up.
How did you get started teaching?
Since I was a little girl, I have taught. When we played school, I was ALWAYS the teacher. I started teaching voice, piano and conducting choirs when I was still in college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all levels from baby beginners to working professionals. I have students singing opera professionally all over the world.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Finding a teacher who really knows the voice, can sing well and convey the very abstract concepts that build a solid singing technique is essential. Also, no two voices are alike and so the teacher must adapt to each student's frame of reference.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you willing to practice every day? Are you willing to take a risk? How strong is your commitment to learning to sing/play well? Do you understand that learning to sing/play well is a life-long journey?
