Reliable Self Defense
About
I am 70 years old. I have been a black belt for 40 years. Obviously I have needed to simplify my meathods over the years. The result is very simple, but very reliable moves that truly work. If you want to be sure that you can protect yourself, I can help. My program will include ways to prevent trouble first and formost. Then ways to face a physical attack when there is no way out. I will not turn you into Bruce Lee, but I can help you be far more capable than the attacker will expect.
I enjoy working with people. I really enjoy showing an average person simple ways to protect themseves. I believe you will be surprised how easy it can be to break free of an attacker's grasp. You will find that you can be capable of warding off a larger offender. At 70, I recently had a much younger student who weighed 250 pounds and stood 6' 2" ask me to show him my favorite move. Suddenly he was laying at my feet in shock. He just kept asking "what did you do?" I am not superman. I can be beat. I keep saying "some day I will lose......BUT NOT TODAY!" I can share my confidece with you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At our first meeting, I will listen to you to learn your capabilities and your needs. We will adjust and create a personal program just for you. Remember, "flying side kicks" and spin kicks are in my past. I did them for years. I have sparred with asian trained 3rd degree black belts and won most of the time. I can tell you how it is done if you want. Now, my feet stay on the ground. Probably yours should too. My purpose is efficient simple self defense for the average person.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied TaeKwonDo with a Korean born and trained 6th degree Black Belt for several years. I met and briefly studied with his 8th degree master. I spared and trained with several 3rd degree students. I have taken private lessons with a Japanese master in an Okinawan style called shuri-tae, just to broaden my skills. Now, I am simplifying everything I learned to fit an old man (me). I think that might be just the right idea for many people.
