About
- I teach people to play guitar using music they enjoy... as opposed to using music I enjoy, or music nobody enjoys!
- I don't utilize scales and meaningless exercises. Why not learn to play by practicing arpeggio's, hooks and riffs that you will need, use and enjoy?
- Unlike the music stores and studios, my goal is not to keep you for as long as possible! This allows me to give you as much to work on each week as works for you! Until you've taught for a store or studio, you can't imagine how important this is. Example: learning notes on each string; Them: 6 weeks @ 1 string per week. Me: 1 week. (It's only 6 strings / 3 notes on each string....?)
- I've been teaching guitar since I was 14 years old - Milano's Music in Mesa.
Students learn to play the instrument right from the start. There's not a lot of academics, not a lot of scale work. They learn to play songs they like right from the beginning. I have been teaching for a many years and I have found that the one most important ingredient in making the students successful is for me to listen! I listen to what the student wants from the instrument, how they learn, what makes learning easier for them, and what their goals are. If these things are always the number one priority, then accomplishment, gratification, and performance are the result!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Most important is to find out what the student wants to accomplish and what they prefer regarding styles of play and types of music. My students learn to play the guitar by playing music they like right from the start! Not a lot of Academics, theory or scale work. We learn to play the guitar using music the student enjoys. Once the student is able to play the instrument and have some fun with it, then we can get further into theory, or whatever the student would prefer.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played guitar since I was nine years old and I have played Guitar since I was 14 years old. Played in various bands growing up and leader did freelance work in Recording studios around the valley.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $40 for a four hours lesson. I do not teach 1/2 hour lessons, as by the time the students get their instrument out, get tuned up, and describe what went well, as opposed too what was more challenging with regard to the prior lesson, we have about 20 minutes left for a lesson! That is not fair to the student! The student should come away from each lesson with new technique, new ideas, and new material that they will enjoy playing!
How did you get started teaching?
The family that owns a large music store in Mesa Arizona we're friends of ours, and at 14 years of age, teaching guitar was an attractive way to make money! Come to find out I relate well to people and I'm able to make learning fun and enjoyable. I later became a behavioral therapist, so working with people is what I do!
