I teach different styles of guitar depending on the student's need and level of expertise. I believe that a student needs to have fun but also learn basic technical prerequisites. I promote being musically literate but will teach in tab styles.
My styles are basic guitar, fingerstyle in classical, flamenco, Hawaiian Slack Key and folk music.
I enjoy seeing others become successful in their musical endeavors.

My 1st guitar, and beginner lessons, @ 58 years old , were the results of a gift given to me , which was a classical nylon string prototype guitar, made by Luther, & Instructor , Carlton Oaks himself. Carlton has the ability to determine your progress, and gives instruction according to his evaluation, which is always spot on. Sadly , we both have relocated , which has put millions of miles between us, however we stay in touch , because the friendship / relationship will always remain. Thats just the best way to describe him as a tutor , and most importantly, a dear friend.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I break down the mechanical and thought processes involved with playing the guitar. This method makes learning easier and my students have more sucesses and enjoy the process of applying what they have learned.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S. in Classical Guitar Performance, I have taught guitar for many years and have performed throughout the world.
