Sam Klein-Markman, Guitar, Bass, Theory, And Composition Teacher
About
I am an experienced teacher and performer.
I have a BA in music from Columbia University, where I trained extensively as a teacher as well as in performance. I have performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s, and SFJAZZ, and won awards from Columbia University and the Banff Center for Jazz and Creative music. I currently perform in jazz and rock groups around the Bay Area.
I love to teach students of all ages and levels and have experience performing and teaching rock, jazz, Latin music, funk, reggae, and more! I have taught guitar in the Bay Area for the past 8 years. I have a structured, progressive teaching method that incorporates students’ stylistic interests into a broader understanding of guitar or bass technique, ear training, and music theory.
I also at times teach classes at the Berkeley Jazzschool and at Bandworks in Oakland.
